Sălaj’s industry is mainly focused on manufacturing. The list of economic sectors boasting a significant growth in January 2020 includes manufacturing of wearing apparel, of fabricated metal products, of computers, electronic and optical products, and of rubber and plastic products. Located in the heart of the North-West region, Sălaj County and Zalău, the county capital, are easy to reach and off the beaten path at the same time. The area offers rich raw material reserves (gypsum, alabaster, diorite, chalk, clay, kaolin, quartz, coal, etc.). The county also boasts a handful of historic tourist attractions, including ancient Roman settlements and medieval citadels and strongholds.
