Oradea, host of a European event focused on local talent retention

How can regions retain and attract young talent? That was the central question explored during a recent European event hosted at the Bihor Science and Technology Park in Oradea. Organized by the North-West Regional Development Agency under the TALENT4S3 project (part of the Interreg Europe programme), the event brought together participants from across Europe to exchange ideas and best practices for strengthening local opportunities and reversing the “brain drain” trend. Showcasing good practices The first day focused on visits to local initiatives that are already contributing to the development of the local innovation ecosystem and youth support, including: - Bihor Science and Technology Park, a space dedicated to research and innovation - Make IT in Oradea, a programme supporting early-stage tech entrepreneurs - Cresc Oradea Mare Business Incubator, offering concrete support for launching new businesses The day also included a guided tour of the Oradea Fortress, giving participants the chance to connect in an informal setting. Housing, safety, and opportunities – key factors in youth retention The second day featured thematic discussions on how regions can become more attractive for young people, focusing on affordable housing, professional opportunities, and quality of life. Highlighted initiatives included: - Oradea Dual Education Campus, where students combine learning with hands-on training - FIX Cluj, a collaborative platform involving public authorities, companies, and academia, designed to foster innovation About the TALENT4S3 project TALENT4S3 is a European initiative that supports interregional learning and experience exchange to improve public policies related to talent retention and attraction.
