March 30, 2026 marks an important moment for the development of business infrastructure in the North-West Region of Romania - the signing of the Cooperation Agreement for the establishment of the North-West Regional Smart Park Alliance (SPark), an initiative that brings together industrial parks, smart specialization parks, logistics parks, science and technology parks, as well as other business and innovation support structures across the region. The agreement was signed by 20 park administrators and founders, representing 35 parks in the North-West Region. The network formed within the Alliance includes 18 industrial parks, 16 smart specialization parks and one science and technology park, outlining one of the most important business support infrastructures in the region. The Alliance is designed as a regional collaboration platform where park administrators, public authorities, universities, the financial sector and companies can work together to develop joint projects, attract investments and build a more coherent and visible regional offer for investors. The Alliance responds to the need for an integrated regional approach, where the development of parks and the support provided to companies are coordinated rather than carried out independently. These parks play a major role in the region’s economic development. They provide ready-to-use infrastructure for investments, space for business development, jobs, innovation and technology transfer. Around these parks, local economic ecosystems are formed, and at regional level they contribute to attracting investments, increasing the competitiveness of companies and integrating the regional economy into European value chains. In practical terms, the Alliance aims to support the development of resident companies, attract new investors to the region, facilitate access to funding and European programs, develop partnerships with universities and research centers, and increase the visibility of the parks and opportunities available in the North-West Region. Through this collaboration, the Alliance seeks to improve connectivity between parks, promote them jointly, facilitate access to financing and develop projects tailored to the real needs of companies. The Alliance will operate through a collaborative model, based on regular meetings, thematic working groups and projects developed in partnership. In practice, it will function as a mechanism through which Alliance members can jointly identify challenges, propose solutions and work on concrete projects for the development of parks and companies in the region. The signing of today’s agreement is not just a formal moment, but marks the transition to a new stage, in which collaboration between parks and regional partners becomes structured, with shared objectives and jointly developed projects. It is also an important step towards building a more connected, more visible and more attractive regional ecosystem for investments. The Alliance remains an open platform, which other parks and organizations relevant to regional economic development, innovation and entrepreneurship can join, contributing to the consolidation of a connected, competitive and investment-oriented regional ecosystem.
